AVC – Bhakta Programme
Introductory Semester in Applied Vedic Culture · 15 credits · about 3 months · twelve weeks.
Find your footing in the culture: chanting, study and service, from day one.
The Books
The Bhakta Programme studies the foundations: Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Srimad-Bhagavatam, Sri Isopanisad, The Nectar of Devotion and The Nectar of Instruction — with Vedic Paradigm, RVC’s own course book for the Bhakta Programme, plus Readings in Vedic Literature, Gita slokas and Vaisnava etiquette.
The Framework
- Twelve weeks: classes seven days a week, with a full daily rhythm — japa and mangala-arati in the early morning, Bhagavatam class, harinama in the afternoon, Gita class in the evening.
- What you learn: the basics of Krishna conscious philosophy (body and soul, bhakti-yoga as the means), sadhana techniques, sankirtana outreach, and Srila Prabhupada’s life and teachings.
- The doorway: AVC is the entry point for most students — those new to centre life, those who already know it, and those who want to refresh their basic training. It is the first 15 credits of the ladder.
Who Can Join
The Bhakta Programme is selective about who can enter. At this time it is men only, 18 and up, and it is an in-person course: you come and live with us for three months.
Lessons will appear here as partner material (VIHE / Mayapur Institute / Chowpatty BACE, with permission and credit) and RVC’s own material arrive. Nothing here is invented — the framework above is the college’s own, from its prospectus.
